MPs raise security for online gambling 400 times to Sh100m

A joint committee of the Senate and National Assembly has proposed increasing the security deposit of betting firms to 400 times from the current Sh250,000 to Sh100 million.

Betting firms will pay a security of Sh100 million for online gambling as the government moves in to protect gamblers from losses besides kicking out poorly capitalised companies from the sector.

A joint committee of the Senate and National Assembly has proposed increasing the security deposit to 400 times from the current Sh250,000. The change is part of the Gambling Control Bill 2023, which is now before Parliament for debate.
