Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Kamau Thugge is expected before a parliamentary committee on Tuesday to explain why loans offered by the local commercial banks are still expensive despite the regulator lowering its benchmark interest rate to make credit cheaper and affordable.
The Finance and National Planning Committee chaired by Molo MP Kimani Kuria will also question Dr Thugge and Capital Market Authority (CMA) Chief Executive Wycliffe Shamiah about the National Social Security Fund’s (NSSF) involvement in questionable bond transactions.
