The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) managing director Gichiri Ndua is expected to leave office in July this year.

Mr Ndua on Monday confirmed that his contract will come to an end on July 31, adding that he would not seek an extension since he was concluding his second term.

“It is true that my contract ends in July. This is my second term, so, I am preparing to leave office,” he said.

Mr Ndua, an economist, was appointed the KPA boss in August 2010 after former managing director James Mulewa was sent home by the board following accusations of abuse office.

Yesterday, KPA board chairman Major (Rtd) Marsden Madoka also confirmed that Mr Ndua’s contract will end in July.

Speaking by phone, Mr Madoka said the board would advertise the KPA top job but didn’t indicate when the process of replacing Mr Ndua will begin.

“We expect Mr Ndua to leave office in July when his contract comes to an end,” the KPA chairman said.

“But we are moving on,” he added.

Mr Madoka didn’t explain when the board will start the process of recruiting a new managing director to take over once his tenure ends.
