SRC set to lose power of setting parastatal salaries

The role of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) in determining the pay of parastatal employees has been reduced to an advisory one in what is set to ease tensions with workers’ unions.

The Government Owned Entities Bill says the pay of employees in companies where the government owns more than half of shares will be set with advice from the SRC.
