The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on March 17, 2026 released a peer review report on the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK), which, among other findings, revealed enforcement gaps in Kenya’s competition regime.
The CAK says the review is part of a rigorous evaluation that reflects institutional maturity rather than failure. Director-General David Kemei said the peer review was preceded by “a detailed self-assessment” in which the watchdog examined its own processes, practices, and institutional realities.
