The 2024 Game Awards that took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 12, 2024 had a lot of surprises in store for gamers.
Astro Bot—a solid platformer from Playstation won Game of the Year! Now, It's a good family game but I really believed Black Myth: Wukong deserved the win.
Anyway, I thought the event was good with the funny self aware jokes from the muppets and some big surprise announcements. Examples, a new Okami sequel, the return of Turok in Turok: Origins, and new titles like Project Century.
As for the Game of the Year, while Astrobot is loved and a fun game, I still stand with and believe Black Myth: Wukong was a stronger entry. It’s a Chinese-developed game with a unique mix of story, gameplay, and style. The game strikes a perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment, never feeling too long or frustrating.
Simply put, like it's predecessors, Astro Bot is delightful and a lot of fun while Black Myth: Wukong is an experience, an imaginative journey into a different culture and world that I consider to be the best representation of escapism.

Secret level
If you are a gamer and enjoy Love, Death & Robots, christmas just came early. Arcane season 2 is out, Grinding Gears Games just gave us Path of Exile 2 and now we also have a new anthology series based on video games out on prime.
Secret level is an a series of animated shorts inspired by video games such as Warhammer, Dungeons & Dragons, even Pac-Man and many others.
The animation showcases stunning visuals (mostly 3D), combining both photo-realistic and stylised techniques, the voice cast is impressive, featuring notable actors like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Keanu Reeves.
Each episode a unique burst of action and visuals that are designed for gamer but still accessible to non gamers. Although the narratives may not present complex themes, they are engaging and self-contained. Basically what am trying to say is that this is a fun show. 8 episodes are out as of December 14 and more are to come in the coming week.
