Did you know exercise is a cheaper detox aid?

Detoxing with exercise. Ever heard of colonic irrigation? Well, it is quite understandable if you have not, it is no big deal.

It’s another addition to those exotic alternative medical therapies which have made their way here recently and which, it is rumoured, ancient Egyptians used to remove fecal waste and other toxins from the colon and the intestinal tracts.

It is a detoxification method where practitioners use special equipment to inject water into the colon to flush things out or alternatively use dietary fibre, herbs and supplements, or laxatives.

Colonic irrigation buffs report that they experience renewed energy and a feeling of wellbeing after a session, and those into it do it once or twice a year.

There is no scientific evidence that colonic irrigation has any benefits but it has been getting quite a crowd of enthusiasts recently despite reported risk of damage of the rectum from the equipment used.

Detractors, who have recruited me to their number, argue persuasively that the colon and the bowels should have the capacity to cleanse themselves naturally without having somebody start an irrigation project to aid them.

Unless, of course, the good Lord made a design error, and you can’t argue with that.

Detoxification is the internal cleansing of the system to which the human body is well primed.

Every day you get assaulted by toxins and poisons from hither and thither.

The toxic fumes you take in when trapped in the traffic jam, the stuff that comes from the food you eat which the body cannot use and we have not even mentioned the pollution that wafts your way from the two principals and their minnows. All this junk has to be stored somewhere.

You can choose to detox yourself by fasting, eating organic food, taking supplements, irrigating your colon or plugging your ears, but the best way to achieve the best results is to make detox a lifestyle – by exercising regularly.

Of course, even if you may not have made the effort to leave the couch for the exercise room yet, you are aware of the benefits of exercise.

It keeps you lean and active and makes you look good and feel good.

It can also be a fashion accessory if you are the vain type or in the dating game but as a detox aid exercise cleanses all your body organs at the same time.

You can, however, still go to your colon irrigation service provider after that although I doubt you will need to.

Ideally the appropriate form of exercise for detox is aerobic which increases your heart rate to your fat-burning zone, encourages diaphragmatic breathing and makes you sweat to open the pores on your skin.

Storage silos

When you exercise you lose weight. In the process you reduce the amount of fatty tissues in your body effectively bringing down the storage silos of the body toxins.

When toxins have no place to call home they leave the body, somehow.

Aerobic exercising makes the blood circulate throughout the body bringing nutrients to all organs and muscles while at the same time circulating toxin-carrying lymph fluids in the process removing what the body does not need.

Exercise also makes you breath heavily.

Now if you didn’t know why this is so, it because the body is at that moment in need of more oxygen to help the cells perform their increased work load part of which is to remove toxins from the system.

One of those toxic materials which the body is glad to get rid of is carbon dioxide, which is a byproduct of various functions of the body.

And, finally, exercising makes you sweat and this way your body releases toxins through the pores of your skin.

Now if you still want to go and irrigate your colon, why, go right ahead.
