Syokimau apartments to feature sport centre

An investor plans to put up 192 housing units together with a private members’ sports centre boasting a football pitch, swimming pool and an indoor games complex in Syokimau.

Regulatory filings indicate businessman Zakayo Wachira wants to put up a two-floor sports facility that will accommodate four tuck shops, a gym, two rooms each for steam and sauna as well as a barber and a massage room.

The development will sit on six acres of land in the outskirts of Nairobi.

The project, in the vicinity of developments such as Lifestyle Terraces, Five Star Gardens, Airport View Court, Easy Prestige Apartments and Green City Gardens, will also see eight blocks of five-storeyed residential apartments built.

Four blocks will be reserved for development of two-bedroom units on each of the five floors together with an adjacent servant quarters (DSQs) each.

Another four blocks will accommodate three-bedroom units on each floor also with an adjoining DSQ, bringing the total luxury units to 192.

The sports complex will house conference halls, 30 parking slots on the ground floor, an aerobics facility, a kitchenette and two dining areas for in-house and private ceremonies such as weddings, graduation among other events.

The National Environmental Management Authority (Nema) has invited the public to give views on the project within the next month.
