The executive board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the sixth review of the Ugandan economy and recognised it for its resilience at having weathered the 2008/9 global economic storm.

The IMF programme for Uganda, the largest destination for Kenya’s exports, is a three-year Policy Support Instrument (PSI) and comes amid expected gross domestic product growth of 6.3 per cent for the year ending June 2010, much higher than Kenya’s 2.5 per cent and 3.5 per cent for the next year.
