The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) and Kenya Re have differed over a regulatory filing indicating the reinsurer bought a Sh3.39 billion stake in collapsed Athi River Mining (ARM) Cement, raising questions over identity of the listed transaction.

The filings from the regulator for the six months to June showed Kenya Re had bought additional shares in ARM Cement, which is a Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)-listed firm that went into liquidation in October 2021.
