When companies expand into new markets, they often begin in conference rooms. I began in motion.

Over the past few weeks in Nairobi, I have found myself on matatu routes in the heart of the central business district, in early morning conversations at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) rooftop, in barbershops and carwashes in the culture reach Eastlands, beside boda boda stages, and in quiet roundtables with business leaders and university administrators. None of this was accidental.
