A board member was engaging the CEO of a fast-growing athletic apparel maker in the United States before the annual shareholders’ meeting when the two caught sight of a group of labour activists at the back of the hall.
The activists were known for protesting labour conditions in the Asian contract factories where the company’s products were made, according to an account told by the board member to the Harvard Business Review.
