Motor dealer DT Dobie has appointed Pewin Motors to operate as its sub-dealer in Karen, servicing and selling parts for its Volkswagen, Hyundai and Greatwall brands.

Pewin will also sell aftermarket products including Valeo spare parts, Motul lubricants and car care products and Fulmen batteries.

“This step will save Karen, Lang’ata and Ngong residents from the need to visit our facility in Lusaka Road for express servicing, minor repairs and the purchase of spare parts,” Levy Ouso, DT Dobie’s dealer development manager, said in a statement.

“There are several garages in the catchment area of Pewin Motors that have welcomed the availability of spares in their neighbourhood.”

The DT Dobie contract adds to Pewin’s presence in the new vehicle market which recently had a setback after the company lost its dealership of Chevrolet cars after Detroit-based General Motors took away the franchise from Pewin’s former partner Isuzu East Africa.

DT Dobie’s appointment signals the rising preference for hiring sub-dealers to reach more customers, a model relied on heavily by Isuzu EA.

Dealers previously opted to directly own and manage their showrooms, sales and service networks.
