What you need to know:

  • Motorists can monitor their fuel consumption, track distance travelled and locate filling stations using smartphones.
  • Users of the app will enjoy a Sh2 discount for every litre of fuel bought.

KenolKobil #ticker:KENO has developed an app, K-Wallet, which allows its customers to monitor their fuel consumption, track distance travelled and locate filling stations using smartphones.

Motorists can also confirm prevailing fuel prices, buy and pay for them on the app, which the oil marketer launched on Thursday in Nairobi.

“With increased use of smartphones and tablet computers, technology has made it very easy for people everywhere to access most products and services on the move,”said KenolKobil’s general manager for Kenya Martin Kimani.

“We are modernising our customers’ fuelling experience by making the best out of the latest technological tools.”

Users of the app will enjoy a Sh2 discount for every litre of fuel bought, the publicly-traded company said.

The firm, which together with French-owned Total and Vivo (Shell) control more than half of Kenya’s downstream petroleum market, said K-Wallet allows motorists to directly top up at its service stations or through Safaricom #ticker:SCOM’s M-Pesa.
