Kenya’s automaker Mobius Motors has started accepting orders for its second and improved model – Mobius II – which they say will hit the road by next year with its most expensive unit retailing at Sh1.58 million.

The company had announced in July that the basic model of Mobius II will retail at Sh1.3 million inclusive of tax up from Sh1.1 million the cost of the first Mobius, which first went on sale in 2014.

“The Mobius II comes in three models namely; Cargo, Adventure and Adventure Plus. You can choose a colour of your choice from onyx black, marlin blue and diani blue,” said the automaker.

“Pre-Orders are exclusively in our Nairobi showroom at Sameer Business Park.”

A buyer going for the Mobius II Adventure Plus , the premier model, has the three colour options to choose from. The options reduce with the model.

The other lower models of the Kenya-made automobile are Mobius II Cargo and Mobius II Adventure retailing at Sh1.3 million and Sh1.45 million respectively - inclusive of VAT.

All the three models boasts of 1800 cc engine with the Mobius II Cargo fitted with only two seats compared to five seats in the Adventure and Adventure Plus models.

Unlike the Cargo two-seater the other two models have an eight inch touch screen infotainment system.

The company was founded in 2009 by British entrepreneur Joel Jackson - who settled in Kilifi, Mombasa and now Nairobi – to address the rough terrain and long distances market especially in rural Kenya.

The firm’s production has been tied to pre-orders with an initial refundable deposit of Sh50,000 if a probable buyer happens to change their mind.
