Local airline Silverstone Air Services has increased frequencies on two of its routes, stepping up competition with established carriers such as Fly 540, Kenya Airways and Jambojet.

The low cost carrier now flies 17 times per week from Nairobi to Kisumu, up from 14, while passengers travelling to Mombasa from Kisumu will now be served by three weekly flights, an increase from two.

“We have increased our frequency to not only address the demand for our service across the various routes but also offer flight variety and flexibility to our customers,” said the airline’s sales manager Patrick Oketch in an interview.

The carrier’s passenger flights target tourists from western and coastal regions, charging about Sh10,500 for a one way ticket between Mombasa and Kisumu.

The airline charges Sh4,500 on the Nairobi-Kisumu route.
