Posta Kenya is today set to launch a commemorative Northern White Rhino stamp to raise awareness of the endangered species.

Tourism and Wildlife secretary Najib Balala will launch the stamp at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki, in collaboration with the Kenya Wildlife Service. Posta in a statement yesterday said that the stamp is intended to raise awareness on the plight of the Rhino as a way of highlighting the importance of conserving wildlife. The stamp comes after the death of Sudan, the last male white rhino in March this year.

Sudan’s death left just two female Northern White Rhinos on the planet, his daughter Najin and her daughter Fatu, who are at Ol Pejeta.

Posta has in the past partnered with the Kenya Wildlife Service to issue stamps of Kenya’s big five mammals.
