Safricom’s #ticker:SCOM data centre in Thika has received Tier III certification from Uptime Institute, a third-party American firm that evaluates performance and efficiency.
It now joins the East Africa Data Centre (EADC) located at Sameer Industrial Park on Mombasa Road, which was the only Tier III certified centre in the region.
The certification was achieved via forensic assessment of all aspects of its design by a team of experts from the US-based company.
Along with EADC, Safaricom now joins a list of elite data centres across the globe whose infrastructure performance have been rated by the firm.
"We are honoured to have the Thika Data Centre certified for international best practices in data center design and operations. The certification provides our enterprise customers with a differentiated service for which independent due diligence has been verified by a global expert,” said Safaricom’s director for risk management Nicholas Mulila in a statement on Tuesday.
