A rich couple was throwing a Christmas party. So, they went to a high-end shopping mall and bought expensive stuff. They called a porter to carry and drop the shopping at home.  The porter was aged, weak, and had torn clothes

They asked the porter about the charges for delivering their goods at their home.  

He quoted Sh2,000, well below the market rate for delivering goods at the couple’s home in his cart.  

Yet, the couple argued and bargained and finally settled for Sh1,500.  The porter was struggling to make even one time’s meal, so he needed any payment.

The couple was happy thinking about the bargain and paid him Sh1,500 in advance and left after giving him their address for delivery.  They reached their home and an hour passed, two hours went, but the porter hadn’t delivered their stuff.  

The angry wife shouted at her husband: “I always tell you to not to trust such people, you never listen to me. You handed everything we purchased for our big party to the one who can’t even feed himself once a day. I am sure he disappeared with everything.  We must go to the police and file a complaint against him”.

On their way near the police station, they saw another porter carrying their stuff in his cart.  The angry lady asked him: “Where is that old thief who was supposed to deliver our stuff?  It seems you poor thieves are stealing our stuff and going to sell it”.

The porter replied: “Madam, please calm down.  The old man was so sick since last month that he wasn’t able to earn enough to even have a single meal of the day.  

He was on the way to deliver your stuff, but his weak body couldn’t gather the strength to go any further in this hot sun, so he fell down handing me Sh1,500. His last words were, ‘This is the advance for the delivery, please rush and deliver to this address.

He was surely hungry and poor, but was honest. I was just on the way to complete the man’s last delivery at your home.”’

The couple had tears in their eyes and the wife felt so ashamed.”

Who you are is what makes you special: Your attitude and your choices make your life. Do not change for any one, but grab every opportunity to change yourself for your betterment.

What lies ahead will always be a mystery. You would know the time to change your life when you are frustrated and disappointed with yourself. Do not then be afraid to explore.

When life pushes you over, push back harder: When you just go through your life, you stop growing. Instead, when you push obstacles ahead, you grow through your life.

Where there are choices to make, make the one you won’t regret: Everything in life is a result of choices you make. They either move you forward or keep you stuck where you are.

Why things happen will never be certain. The only constant thing in life is change, so take things in your stride and move on.
