Former Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia has been named the Industrial Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC) board chairman, months after he was cleared of corruption charges.
President Uhuru Kenyatta made the appointment through a Kenya Gazette notice Friday with businessman Chris Kirubi being appointed non-executive board chairman at Brand Kenya while former Police Commissioner Major General (Rtd) Hussein Ali and former Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey also bagged key parastatal positions.
Mr Ali will be the NGO’s Coordination Board chairman and Mr Kosgey will chair the Kenya Tourism Fund board.

The EACC cleared him of the charges in October last year.
Mr Kimemia, once a powerful figure in both the grand coalition government under President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga and later in President Uhuru Kenyatta's government has since maintained a low profile.
Mr Kirubi’s appointment comes at a time when the Capital Markets Authority is introducing rules that set a 70-year age limit for board members of publicly traded firms. Mr Kirubi is 72.
The appointment Mr Kosgey is a continuation of a trend where politicians who are not holding political office are given board positions in parastatals.
Last week, former Roads minister Franklin Bett who recently helped the Jubilee coalition clinch the Kericho Senate was picked to chair the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) board for a three-year period.
Mr Ali served as the Postmaster General at the Postal Corporation of Kenya between 2009 and 2012 but his tenure was not renewed owing to poor performance.
He will now be in charge of streamlining NGOs' operations in the country with his appointment coming at a period charitable organisations have been accused of being conduits for terrorist financing.
