Nairobi Institute of Business and Technical Studies (Nibs-TC) has offered incentives for East African students to enroll in its programmes.

Founder and CEO, Lizzie Wanyoike, says the incentives include reduced fees in various disciplines as well as negotiated accommodation pacts. She said the move is aimed at increasing student population currently standing at 8, 043 in its Ruiru Kimbo-based headquarters as well as in four satellite branches.

There has been an ongoing project in the institute for the past five years to expand student population that has so far cost Sh300 million. From January next year it will be in a position to handle 25, 000 students.

Having East Africans training together will diversify student experience, broaden student mindset as well as create networks beneficial to them as they ready themselves to join the broadened job market according to the entrepreneur.

“We want to deliberately create a situation whereby our graduates can liaise with their foreign colleagues to pursue job market opportunities as a combined front. Where our local students can have those crucial networks to enable them shop around for opportunities in other East African member states,” she added.

She said the institute has been toying with the idea of opening satellite campuses in selected East Africa capitals but abandoned the idea after Kenya government embargoed such moves.

Ms Wanyoike said NIBS-TC has established a liaison office that will be overseeing the new shift in admissions.
