Tecno sets sights on Samsung, HTC with new operating system

Tecno Mobile, a leading mobile phone maker is keeping no secrets of its next bold move. TECNO will join the ranks of top mobile players such as SAMSUNG, HTC and Huawei with a unique user interface for android users.
Tech analysts who got a sneak preview of the new system called the HiOS, say the move that was long due will consolidate TECNO’s grip on its market share in Africa.
“For a brand as big as Tecno is right now on the continent, it pays to have a consistent interface that users can always identify with. HiOS is not far from being an iOS clone,” Emmanuel Chenze said.
The new HiOS to be launched on March 31, 2016, will give mobile users a more fluid and appealing wallpaper display, cleaner and tidier homepage, one-touch phone memory free up button, faster app launch and even smarter app manager options.
SAMSUNG launched its own system - the TouchWiz 3.0 Lite in 2010 – and later upgraded to TouchWiz Nature UX 5.0 on the SAMSUNG Galaxy S6 in 2015.
New HiOS to launch on TECNO Boom J8 smart phone
HiOS will officially debut on TECNO’s newest smartphone, the Boom J8 said to be completely different from its predecessor, the J7. Its features will include a 13MP auto-focus rear/ 5.0MP front cameras with dual flash, a 2GB RAM/16GB internal memory ultra-slim smart phone with 5.5” HD IPS touch screen.
“The new TECNO Boom J8 music smart phone is everything a premium music phone should be and it will be TECNO’s first mobile to host the unique HiOS based on Android 5.1 lollipop,” TECNO Deputy Marketing manager, Attai Oguche said.
