A special economic zone (SEZ)-based firm has lost its bid to block scrutiny by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) after a court ruled that SEZ status does not shield such firms from compliance with Kenyan law.
Compact Inland Logistics moved to court to block Epra’s scrutiny after the regulator’s officers seized the firm’s electronic goods stored in the SEZ and sealed them for investigation.
