Asked about the economic miracle of Singapore which he helped transform as per his book, From Third World to First, Lee Kwan Yew famously replied, saying: “There is no miracle, get a few fundamentals right, and keep doing them right for an extended period of time, then you’ll see the miracle”.
It’s the playbook Botswana, Ethiopia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, among others used to turn their potentials several decades ago into reality.
