The Labour relations court has backed the decision of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to scrap retreat, taskforce and sitting allowances for Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), ruling that it amounts to double compensation.
While dismissing a petition filed by the County Assembly of Embu against SRC, the court found that that removal of the perks was based on valid reasons. The court said there was no evidence SRC’s decision violated the Constitution and the rights of the MCAs.
