President William Ruto plans to collect Sh500 billion from workers in the next decade to build some 363,860 housing units for Kenyans and civil servants.
The country has an annual deficit of around 200,000 houses, which the private sector has not been able to deliver due to the high cost of developing homes in serviced lands.
