MPs hold the key to enforcement of the Treasury’s decision withdrawing income and value-added tax imposed to cushion workers, households and businesses from the impact of the coronavirus crisis amid pressure to extend the reliefs beyond next month.
The lawmakers have been recalled from the Christmas recess to a special session on Tuesday that will determine the fate of the tax relief through a fast tracked debate.
