James Katule has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) effective March 1, 2022.
A statement from the commission said Mr Katule had been serving as CRA’s director of fiscal affairs for eight years since 2014.
The certified public accountant has also previously served as the commission’s director of corporate services for two years between 2012 and 2014.
Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Mr James Katule as the new chief executive effective March 1, 2022.
In a statement to newsrooms, the Commission said Mr Katule has been serving as CRA’s director of fiscal affairs for eight years since 2014.
The certified public accountant has also previously served as the commission’s director of corporate services for two years between 2012 and 2014.
Mr Katule takes over from George Ooko, who served as CEO for 10 years from September 2011.
According to CRA, the public finance expert has experience in strategic management, leadership and corporate governance, spanning 17 years.
Mr Katule has held different management positions in both public organisations and international donor-funded research institutions.
He has served in the past at International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF). He has also worked at the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).
Mr Katule is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and holds a master of business administration (MBA) from the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI).
He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Education from Kenyatta University.
He is an alumnus of the Andrew Young School of School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University where he studied fiscal decentralisation, local governance and service delivery.
The Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) is an independent Commission that was established under Article 216 of the 2010 Constitution to make recommendations for equitable sharing of revenue between the national and county governments.
