State gets Sh12bn for fertiliser importation

The government has rolled out plans to import 105 tonnes of fertiliser ahead of the planting season after securing €78.9 million (Sh11.8 billion) from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The Treasury will use part of the money to import 2,100 50-kilo bags of planting and top dress fertiliser by March after the Ministry of Agriculture floated tenders for the purchase last month.
