Tea farmers have moved closer to receiving 50 percent of their tea proceeds within 30 days of auction after the Senate on Monday passed the Tea Bill that now awaits presidential signature.
This will be a departure from the current system where growers get a fraction of their money every month with the bulk of it made at the end of the financial year as second payment, normally referred to as bonus.
