Fifteen independent aspirants seeking election to the East African Legislative Assembly (Eala) seats that come with a $14,000 (Sh1.4 million) monthly pay have been locked out of the race.
The joint parliamentary Select Committee on the Election of Members to Eala said independent candidates were not entitled to a slot in light of the current composition of Parliament.
