Despite being invited and confirming his attendance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu skipped the swearing-in of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Instead, he went straight to State House on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. According to Israeli media, Mr Netanyahu gave the event a wide berth due to fears over his safety.
