Water and sanitation facilities the Covid-19 silver lining for schools

Water insecurity has become a clear and present danger. With climate change, populations increase and extractive human activities, water availability continues to diminish, further eroding the gains on the sixth UN sustainable development goal (SDG).

UN Environment status report on the achievement of SDG 6 in Africa calls for sufficient financial resources to be allocated to sanitation to meet national targets. Specifically, focus should be on data provision, financing and investments, capacity building, cooperation and monitoring and reporting.
