Kipng'etich appointed Equity Bank COO

Equity Bank has hired former Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) director Julius Kipng'etich to a top management position to help the bank in its pan-African expansion.

Kipng'etich, who has been serving in the bank’s board of directors, will join the bank to serve in the newly-created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

He has been KWS director since 2004, turning the fortunes and improving the image of a previously loss-making organisation which heavily relied on donors and Treasury for funds.

Last week, Kipng’etich said he had resigned from his position at KWS to pursue "personal interests".

Equity Bank also announced the appointment of Samson Misheck Oduor as the Group Finance Director. Oduor joins the bank from EcoBank Transnational Inc., where he served as the CFO-Domestic Bank of Africa.

“As the bank continues to grow in size and footprint, we will continuously seek outstanding talent that will contribute in implementing the Bank’s Pan African expansion strategy,” said Equity Bank CEO Dr James Mwangi.
