MPs have given Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) management the last chance to provide documents justifying the cancellation of the Sh64.5 billion Greenfield terminal project at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

National Assembly’s Public Investments Committee (PIC) on Thursday warned the KAA management that it will declare them hostile witnesses if all documents surrounding the procurement of a Chinese contractor are not tabled within the next seven days.

PIC chairman Abdulswamad Nassir said Parliament will have no other option than to direct investigative agencies, including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, to seize the documents from KAA.

The warning came after KAA led by managing director Jonny Andersen failed to table minutes and other relevant letters detailing how the mega contract was procured and later cancelled resulting in payments of Sh4.3 billion to M/S ACEG-CATIC JV without works commencing.

This is the third time in a row that KAA has failed to present the documents.

“It is unfair for you to provide us a chronology of events without attaching critical documents such as correspondences and minutes of the meetings that sanctioned cancellation,” Mr Nassir told Mr Andersen.
