A trader has sued the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs), challenging a requirement by the regulator that importers of used vehicles without a Certificate of Roadworthiness (CoR) submit mandatory importation documents to a car inspection firm for validation.
Togo Motors Ltd claims the notice by Kebs dated July 8, 2025, imposes an extra validation fee of Sh12,000 per vehicle, thus increasing the cost of importation.
