The indictment of Gautam Adani, chairman of the Indian conglomerate Adani Group, over an alleged multibillion-dollar bribery and fraud scheme, has fuelled controversy about the company’s activities in Kenya.
Even before Mr Adani’s indictment by a New York court, there was controversy over the Adani Group’s proposed takeover of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and its Sh95 billion investment in Kenya’s power transmission infrastructure. Both announcements generated a lot of controversy and ignited heated debates, especially on social media.
