China has given Kenya Sh129.5 million ($1 million) to strengthen preparedness for Ebola following the confirmation of the country’s first imported case of the disease.

The funding is part of a $2 million (Sh259.5 million) cash grant handed over to the National Treasury yesterday by Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo Haiyan. Of the grant, Sh129.5 million will support Ebola preparedness, while a similar amount will go towards drought response.
